Pastel Paintings on Display at UAFS through July 31
An exhibit on display through July 31 at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will feature pastel paintings by local artist Judy Howard, with a reception set for early May.

University of Arkansas – Fort Smith alumna Priscilla Tran of Fort Smith decided she wanted to pursue a career in film when, at age 18, she watched “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
Hale Flourishes as Leader, Community Activist at UAFS
When Shane Hale graduated from Waldron High School, he had more than 20 scholarship offers from schools all over the country. Prestigious universities such as Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Baylor and others had offered him generous scholarships.   Instead, he chose the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. Where other schools barely interacted with him past reaching out to him to let him know he received a scholarship, he said the personal interest UAFS professors took in him influenced his decision to attend.
UAFS School of Education to Offer Online Endorsement in Fall
Beginning this fall, the School of Education at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will offer students the opportunity to earn the pre-kindergarten-level, grades 3-4 endorsement online, making UAFS the first university in the state to offer the endorsement completely online.

Two high school students earned prizes and a third earned recognition from the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith after they placed in a high school artwork competition at the university.

Thanks to dedicated professors and a friendly campus, Lynette has found her way at UAFS to pursue her passion of becoming a teacher.

Ten years ago, an original production from a fledging theatre department at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith brought national acclaim to the university, the beginning of a 10-year run of celebrated productions and performances by the theatre program. This fall, Theatre @ UAFS will reenact the award-winning production “CORRIGENDA” for a 10th-anniversary celebration as part of the University’s Season of Entertainment 36. The shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20-22 and 24-25 in the Breedlove Auditorium on the UAFS campus, and tickets are $6 for the general public and free for students. The show is rated suitable for all audiences.

Sisters Constance and Naomi Lee have always been close. When Constance, the older sister by three years, got a job as a waitress at a local restaurant, Naomi got her work permit at age 13 so she could bus tables alongside her. As kids, the two spent a summer in Michigan detasseling corn, an experience they describe as “horrible” but are able to laugh about now.
