Dr. Edward Serna, formerly chief of staff and associate vice chancellor for external funding at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, has been promoted to chief of staff and vice chancellor for strategic initiatives, effective July 1.
The University Rotary Club earlier this month presented a check for $2,000 to Mary Lackie, vice chancellor for advancement at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, for scholarships.
The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith has released the Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester, according to Dr. Georgia Hale, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.
A $157,500 grant from Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation & Affiliates will help low-income students enrolled at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith continue their education when faced with financial emergencies.
The Wilhauf House, a historic property in downtown Van Buren owned by the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, recently received a $600,000 grant from the Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resource Council to continue renovating the property.

Kradel, Hale to Serve as Speakers for UAFS Commencement
Eileen Kradel, former vice president of compliance at Washington Regional Medical Center and member of the UAFS Board of Visitors, and Dr. Georgia Hale, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, will serve as speakers for the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith’s commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. May 13.
